Permanent representatives of the countries of the European Union on July 18 will begin technical work on the formalization of the package of measures proposed by the European Commission on Friday to strengthen and expand sanctions against Russia. This is stated in the published agenda of the meeting – the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU States (COREPER II).
It is noted that such work involves the prescribing and reconciliation of legal texts by specialists.
Earlier, the European Commission proposed a package of measures to strengthen the effectiveness of European sanctions against Russia. A political decision on this agenda can be made on July 18 at the Council of EU Foreign Ministers. It must receive the unanimous approval of all 27 members of the European Union.
